GTA V Announced
Rockstar Games posted this on their website yesterday. It shows that Rockstar are developing a new Grand Theft Auto title which is speculated to be released either early to mid next year.On the bottom of the page it says that there will be a trailer posted next week. I really hope its a sequel to San Andreas and not GTA IV. Looking at the logo for five I'd say its entirely possible.
Tune in Next week to watch the trailer. In the mean tome which Grand Theft Auto title do you want to see a sequel of.
Comment below.
UPDATE: Here it is
'YES IT'S SET IN SAN ANDREAS YAY!'
^My reaction as soon as I saw the Vinewood sign^
Not a good move at 7:00AM when your sister is trying to sleep. But still YAY :D
Oh man I've been waiting for this for years. GTA San Andreas is my favourite GTA game in the series and is 2nd after Wolfenstien 3D in my top 3 games I'd like to be stuck on a desert island with. While the trailer shows a character that has nothing to do with CJ and the Grove St boys and seems to go more along the lines of Californication I'm not complaining. Californication is an awesome show. David Duchovny *drool*
No release date but I am so pre-ordering the collectors edition of this. Even if I have to pimp myself to do it.

San Andreas goes HD
I don't normally talk about mods for games mostly because there are so many and most either make the game look better or add silly stuff into the game. But this one peaked my interest.
A group of fans have ported the Rockstar classic Grand Theft Auto San Andreas into the GTA 4 engine. It's a total conversion bringing everything including missions, vehicles, collectibles and all the radio stations into the latest rendition of the series.
These guys have put a lot of work into making San Andreas HD. All the graphics have been brought to the cutting edge for the latest generation of computers. While the walking and running controls in GTA 4 are terrible I'm really exicted at seeing Los Santos with brushed up graphics.
People who loved the game back in the day will enjoy it and new players will love it. If you are new I recommend getting the original game and playing that to truly experience the game in all its glory. You can pick up a copy for as little as $20 on Steam.
The mod is only available for the PC version of the game. Hopefully Rockstar see it and re-make San Andreas for modern consoles *HINT HINT!*
The original is my all time favorite GTA game and its good to see modders really putting themselves out there. So far the Mod is in beta and you can download it for free from their website.
Comment below and tell me, What's your favorite mod and why?

What I think of Red Dead Redemption
You see I started playing Red Dead at the same time as everyone else but because I'd borrowed it off of a mate I had to stop right before I could start the Mexico missions. I have now procured a copy and have picked up were I left off. Where everyone thinks it goes downhill.
Red Dead Redemption is made by Rockstar and is the spiritual prequel to Grand Theft Auto. The game follows a standard Rockstar plot with cowboys and Indians thrown in. You are ex gang member John Marston who is trying to start a new life, your past catches up with you when the government takes your family hostage and you are sent on a quest to kill all of your old gang pals. Sound familiar?
As much as people hate on the gameplay I don't mind it. Yeah it feeds you everything but that just means that you can focus on the plot a bit more. It is basically the time proven gameplay that has appeared in Rockstars most popular titles like Grand theft Auto 4 and Bully. Missions are broken up into strands and they mostly consist of go here and kill/steal that. Never gave the multiplayer a go but from what I've seen it's not all to different to the multiplayer in GTA4 but replace cars and cities with horses and open plains.
Like Fallout 3 (yeah yeah I mentioned it again but it's such a good reference) each string of missions are a story in themselves that sort of relate to the plot but in reality John Marston would have just beat it out of the people that give the mission and the whole game would be over in an hour. My good friend over at Level 3 sums up Red Dead quite simply when he said "I get it but I don't like it." What I thought was the main story (Doing the governments dirty work to save your family) turns out to be just part of it. The game splits itself into two parts and for the sake of spoilers I wont mention when this happens but it is pretty obvious when you play the game. Its worth sticking through till the end because the final mission is very fitting (Although I did think it a bit silly that it was a stranger mission) if you're going for 100% completion then it is a must anyway. The story is really good in the first part and as much as I'm hating on the second part I don't mind it to much. It tells you the story of what happens after what I'll call the 'main story' is completed. The final mission that I mentioned earlier while leaving the game open for a sequel still ties up all the loose ends of the current game. Something Modern Warfare 2 failed to do.
The side challenges are worth doing even if you don't care about getting 100% completion. The outfit challenges are worth putting in the play hours not just to play dress up with John Marston but also allow you do do certain things in game like cheat in poker or not get caught by the police. While there are some that are just there to play dress up like the duster outfit or the Mexican poncho.
The soundtrack is exactly what I expected. The soundtrack to any Clint Eastwood movie during his hey day. However at certain major events throughout the game a more modern song will play which sets the mood for what you're seeing and it does it well. Rockstar really nailed the soundtrack for the game.
If you like cowboy movies and have enjoyed previous games the Rockstar series like Grand Theft Auto then you'll enjoy Red Dead redemption.

The deal with the R18+ rating in Australia.
People from all over the world read this blog and you are all awesome. So I thought I might take this time to explain some stuff going on in the Australian gaming scene and how you all can help out.
Some of you may have seen either on the news or on the Social network sphere that Mortal Kombat was banned (or refused classification) here in Australia. It was banned because the powers that be decided it was too violent regardless of the fact that the previous titles in the series were just as violent and were allowed on our shores. This is because the maximum rating for games is MA15+ which means that people between the ages of 15 and 17 can view/play but only with an adult supervising. There is no R18+ rating.
Why is R18+ so important? More importantly what the hell does R18+ mean? R18+ is the maximum rating that can be given in Australia's rating system. It means that only people over the age of 18 can view content given that rating. Why it's so important is that games like Mortal Kombat would not be banned. Currently there is a work around. Games that are banned can resubmit again by modifying the game to remove or tone down the violence/drug use/sexual content/etc... and try to get it rated. Grand Theft Auto is famous for getting rejected and then the modified version is let through. The problem with this is that people then import the game from America or another country which is bad for our economy. This means that game prices go up and in turn more people pirate the game which hurts the gaming industry as a whole.
What really annoys me is that all this goes on and our government doesn't care. When Episodes of Liberty City was released on Xbox Live it was hosted on American servers meaning it had all the sex and violence that was banned from the original game. You paid your 12 bucks and effectively got a "bring back all the good bits" patch along with the DLC. Another example is Left 4 Dead 2. If you purchased it from a retail game shop like EB you got the modified version. If you purchased it from Steam you got the original game in all it's uncensored glory.
Earlier I said that there was a way you could help. There is an online petition being circulated to be sent to the government asking them to introduce an R18+ rating to video games. Please sign it and tell everyone about it. You will be helping shape Australian gaming history. The link is here:http://www.petitiononline.com/ccvgp/petition.html
Till next week.
Peace.
